I am a Scottish artist based in Ayrshire, inspired by the ever changing light, movement and atmosphere of the natural world.

My journey into painting began after connecting to the seascapes and landscapes around me both at home and further afield.

I have taken the time to find my style, to grow, to learn and to accept that happy accidents are actually

wonderful in creating art.

A Journey Inspired: From Inspirational Islands to Artistic Success

It all started in 2013 when I visited the Hebridean islands of Harris and Lewis in Scotland.

The remote, white sandy beaches, with swirls of turquoise and purple in the sea were magical and I needed to capture this on canvas. Sometimes you have this real connection to a place and this was it for me.

In 2014 I joined Open Studios Ayrshire, an annual art trail event that encouraged art lovers and collectors to visit artists in their studios, a bit daunting doing it for the first time but so enjoyable and I met so many wonderful people who still follow me and buy my art on a regular basis.

In 2015, a fantastic opportunity arose when I collaborated with two fellow Ayrshire artists to establish The Coach House Gallery at  Culzean Castle and Country Park. This opened new doors and exposed me to a wider audience from all over the world enabling me to successfully sell a substantial number of my original work.

Embracing Change: Finding Solace, and Inspiration Through Art

In October 2018, due to family commitments and circumstances I decided to leave the Coach House gallery. I still think fondly of this special place and time in my life and I'll always be grateful for this experience.

The following years, 2020 and 2021, were incredibly challenging due to the pandemic. The whole world was turned upside down, a very unsettling and frightening time for everyone. I think it's important to still reflect on this period and not to forget how it affected us all. However during this period I did find solace in my art and I spent many hours in my studio getting lost in creating happy places.

In 2022 the world returning to some normality,  I started to take  part in local art markets held at The Grain Exchange in Ayr and it was amazing to be back out, interacting with other artists and art buyers in person. There was a real buzz and excitement around these events as we had been confined for so long

Since then I have taken part in several successful exhibitions at the Grain Exchange in Ayr, and have submitted work to the Big Art Show in Paisley, Glasgow. I have work for sale at COAST gallery in Troon and I am also involved with creative markets, the Handmade in Ayr Market which is held at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Ayr and the Coastal Artisan Market at the Cutty Sark building in Ayr High Street.

In between these markets I have a pop up studio in my home and viewings are by appointment, please get in touch on my  contact me page if you would like to view my work.

Commissions are available, think of your happy place whether its home or further afield, brought to life on canvas and yours to keep forever just a click away on my contact page.

My Paintbrush Adventures: Capturing the Ever-Changing Beauty of the World

For me a new painting is not always planned out, the first thing I usually do when I go into my studio is to â€‹arrange my colours, putting the blues together and so on. This usually gets a bit more disorganised as the painting emerges as I'm too engrossed to be tidy! It is usually then I decide what I'm in the mood to create. Looking at the range of colours in front of me is a great way to decide, some days the blues are too appealing to resist so a blue sky painting is born, or if I'm drawn to reds and oranges it's a sunset. I let the colours inspire me.

In my work I love to create movement and life, whether it's the billowing clouds, the crashing waves, the swaying grass, or the delicate leaves and blossoms of flowers. I use layers of colour and texture to build depth and movement, allowing each piece to evolve naturally as it develops.

I want to transport the viewer into a world where each stroke of paint breathes life and evokes an emotion. When I paint a landscape, I immerse myself, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin, the wind on my face,  seeing the gentle movement of flowers and grass and living in the moment, a little bit of mindfulness at work.

I hope my paintings bring a sense of calm, connection and atmosphere into the spaces they become part of.
